Where to start
Most people arrive with a situation rather than a service name. These are the usual starting points.
All 7 are delivered from the James Island office — CPA services in Charleston, SC.
“I run a business and the tax bill keeps surprising me”
Start with Business Tax, then Tax Planning & Advisory — the surprise usually comes from structure and estimates, not from the return.
“My books are behind and I need real numbers”
Bookkeeping Services. Catch-up and reconciliation come first; reporting on an unreconciled file just produces confident-looking numbers that are wrong.
“I own rental property and the losses are not doing anything”
Rental Real Estate. Whether a loss is usable this year turns on the passive activity rules and, for short-term rentals, on documented participation.
“I got a letter from the IRS”
Tax Controversy — and do it before the response deadline on the notice passes.
“I am buying, selling or handing over a business”
Mergers & Acquisitions Tax, ideally before the letter of intent fixes the structure.
“I want to stop reacting to the tax bill and start planning”
Tax Planning & Advisory — entity choice, timing, property and exits looked at together, well before a filing deadline forces the answer.
How an engagement works
- 01
Scope before work
The first conversation is about what the work involves and whether this firm is the right one for it. What we will do, what we will not, and what we need from you goes in writing before anything starts.
- 02
Documents through the portal
Tax documents move through the client portal, not email. A return contains Social Security numbers, bank details and a complete financial picture, and email is not a secure channel for any of it.
- 03
Questions answered during the year
Planning decisions have deadlines that are not April. Entity changes, property purchases, sales and equity events are cheaper to get right while they are still open.
- 04
What sits outside these services
We are a tax and accounting practice. Legal drafting, investment management and insurance are separate professions; where your situation needs one, we will say so and work alongside whoever you use.
Why Choose the Haigler CPA Group, LLC?
A licensed CPA on the work
Returns are prepared by a South Carolina CPA — license 10843 — and a member of the AICPA, with a background in corporate tax, real estate partnerships and high-net-worth individuals.
